I sit in Block 2 of the Tilton and when a player is running down the left wing, All you can hear is squishing noises. Same when the ball is played along the ground down that side by the corner flag.

It doesn't seem to have any bounce, Doesn't seem playable at all fo our players (even though other teams come here and play football on it). We were playing much better football when the old turf was down.

Wholeheartedly agree. It looks terrible to me. The bounce isn't right at all.

If as you say other teams are coming to St.Andrews and playing ok on it, is there really a problem with it?

Its a confidence issue. There is obviously an issue with it, you can see how bad it is.

I'm in Olympic Gallery so can't hear a bear f*rt from up there!!! Haven't got my bearings!!! "...running down the left wing..." in which direction, towards you or away from you?!?!?!? Or put it another way... Kop side of the pitch or Main Stand side?

Main Stand side towards me. It's like players have trouble stopping there run, i.e. McSheffrey when running onto a ball takes longer to stop than he did before and all you hear are the players boots hitting the grass and it makes a squishing sound. It's like the blades of grass are too sharp similar to when you go to Egypt or somewhere and see those rubbish pitches.

It's a weird case.

Sounds like they've used a 'special' type of grass! Knowing our lot and their tendancy to cock things up, they've probably laid a pitch of marajuana!!!

Agreed the pitch is awful, i remember watching the Reading match thinking that it's bad but over time it will get better and guess what, it hasn't. The ball just doesn't bounce.

It was definately bad last night. The ball just did not bounce. Not sure if the heavy rain over the previous 24 hours may have contributed to it though.

I wish we would stop using this pitch as an excuse.Other teams have to play on it aas well and weve had the practice on it.

If this is the case then why are there strong rumors (on another well known Blues site) that the pitch is getting taken up at the end of the season again? Perhaps the board have seen that we've got ripped off with the current pitch but can't afford to replace it again so soon?

There is definately something not right about it. Perhaps the ground is too hard? Perhaps the grass is too thick? I dunno, But what else would explain McSheffrey's lack of creativity on the current surface compared to the old one? It's like we're watching a new team. The ball goes barely 5 yards when a pass is made, Seems very poor surface.

Take last night for example, That quality play on the left flank, When Vine got played in, The ball just didnt seem to reach him right, It sort of bobbled and he miscontrolled it.

Not so I'm afraid. Watch the game and its easy to see. Yes other teams have to play on it too but that doesn't make the pitch better.

loved it last night when the ball on any other pitch would have gone out for a goal kick. but it stopped dead and span and slowly moved to go out for a throw in. loved it! :banner:

The pitch saved us last night, the ball slowed down when it was trickling into the net and gave Clem chance to clear it

Huray for the pitch

sounds to me that the pitch is holding water, the grass may not have knitted together probably,in the short span of time it had before being played on, i will ask rigby taylors rep,who supply the top dressing and fertilizer etc, to our golf course and st. andrews for a reason, and i shall let you know what he says if you would like me to.

No pitch is going to grow and knit together during an English winter. If they haven't used artificial portable UV lighting rigs on it like Newcsatle do to simulate growing conditions then the groundsman or whoever's responsible needs shooting. Would you lay turf in your garden in January?
